1,301 people died from the heat during Hajj in Saudi Arabia. Pilgrims would travel long distances without shelter in 50 degree heat.

It became known that more than three quarters of the dead did not have official permission to be on Hajj. Some of the dead were elderly people and people with chronic diseases.

The Western media have already written that Saudi Arabia did not take sufficient measures to conduct the Hajj safely.
