Spanish farmers block traffic on several major highways and burn tires in protest

Spanish farmers have blocked traffic on several major highways. Farmers also burnt tires as a sign of protest. "Reuters" disseminates the information.

Spanish farmers say they are joining the protests that are taking place in various European countries. Farmers protest high costs, bureaucratic issues and competition from non-EU countries.

As the media writes, at least 14 highways in four regions of Spain: Catalonia, Valencia, Andalusia and Castilla-La Mancha are blocked.

In addition, the Ministry of Agriculture of Spain announced that the agency will allocate an additional 269 million euros to almost 140,000 farmers to alleviate the losses caused by the long drought and the impact of the ongoing war in Ukraine.
